Set around Burke Lake, this family-oriented community has a character different from most of Fairfax County‘s newer towns. Burke is also near a large cluster of technology firms and the Washington D.C. area.

There is plenty to do in Burke. Dining includes Villa Bella Italian Restaurant, Glory days, Hopsfrog Grill, Anita’s, Outback Steakhouse, and more.

There are several shopping centers in Burke to include the Burke Center Shopping Center which is anchored by Kohl’s and Safeway, and there are also over 40 other stores, services & restaurants. The Burke Village Center Shopping Center offers unique dining, shopping, beauty & hair salon, healthcare and optometry, veterinarian and pet supplies, martial arts and fitness, automotive service & tires, grocery store & much more. The Rolling Valley Mall includes Shoppers Food Warehouse, OnelilfeFitness and other shops & restaurants.

For decades, families have been riding around Burke Lake Park in a miniature steam engine, stopping for hand-dipped cones at the ice cream parlor, and hiking or biking along the trails and fishing in Burke Lake.Burke Lake Park offers many activities and facilities. The Golf Club includes and 18-hole par, 3 golf courses, a driving range, and a clubhouse with a snack bar. The main leads to the Ranger Station, camp store and Nature Center. There is a miniature train, carousel, outdoor valleyball courts, open fields, disk golf, horse shoe pits, an ice cream parlor, picnic areas with grills, 3 playgrounds, an amphitheater, miniature golf course, camp grounds, miles of trails, and a marina. There is a public boat launch/ramp. A 4.68 mile trail surrounds the lake starting at the marina parking lot, crossing both launch ramps, and most of the activity areas.

Burke is home to Lake Braddock High School which is a combines Junior High & High School. Lake Braddock Secondary School is ranked 7th within Virginia. Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement course work and exams. The AP participation rate at Lake Braddock Secondary School is 79 percent. There are many sports programs including soccer, football, baseball, crew, tennis and cross country.
